New President of New Leaf - New Life!

We are pleased to announce that Lindsey Badger is our new President!  And we are extremely grateful to all the years of service from Wain Martin!  Read more about this transition & the excitement for the future in this press release.

New Leaf Poetry PRogram Featured in the IDS

Check out the article in the Indiana Daily Student on Frank Brown Cloud's poetry class, "Poetry workshop for Monroe County Jail seeks personal revision" - as a bonus, one of the wonderful poems is included!

Letter Writing to Incarcerated Survivors

Join New Leaf - New Life and its partners - Middle Way House, the Midwest Pages to Prisoners Project, All-Options Pregnancy Resource Center, the IU Middle Way House Chapter, and Bloomington PRIDE - as we write letters to ​incarcerated survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking.  Meetings are generally 7-8pm on the second Wednesday of each month. February 14 will be at All-Options, 1014 S. Walnut St.

MLK Day Community WOrkshops At New Leaf!

On Monday January 15, 5-7pm, New Leaf - New Life will be hosting two workshops for community members at our 1010 S. Walnut St. location.  From 5-6pm is the Re-entry Workshop, for those who want to ​learn about strategies for developing a re-entry plan after incarceration, for themselves or for others.  From 6-7pm is the ​Crisis Workshop, which will help develop ​strategies for self-care and community response to mental health crises.

Long-time Volunteer Passes Away

We are sad to report the passing of long-time volunteer Bruce Bundy.  Bruce was with New Leaf - New Life from the beginning and volunteered, often three times a week, right up until his untimely passing.  We will miss Bruce greatly.

​New Leaf - New Life MEMBER WINS 2017 BE MORE AWARD!

Congratulations to New Leaf - New Life volunteer Mary Goetze on winning a 2017 Bloomington Be More Award!  As the awarding group states, "​Mary steps in when needed in order so New Leaf-New Life can best serve inmates, and has consistently found creative ways to improve inmates’ quality of life."  This is the third year in a row a New Leaf - New Life member has won a Be More Award, with Lindsey Badger winning in an award in 2016 and Wain Martin & David Meyer winning awards in 2015.
